Hold Fast

~ What Things Do You Cling To? ~

There are a number of items Christians should cling to regardless of circumstances.

The Name of Jesus Christ  ~  Jesus Christ said, And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write,These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword: “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is.  And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.  But I have a few things against you…”’” (Revelation 2:12-14a).

The Word of God  ~  “A bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful Word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict” (Titus 1:7-9).

The Certainty of Eternal Life with God  ~  “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope [literally “our certainty] without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews10:23).

That Which Is Good  ~  Test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

The Sound Teaching You Hear  ~  Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.  That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us” (2 Timothy 1:13-14).

the key question  ~  How does a Christian manage to cling to these things?

How?  In Faith And Love  ~  Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.  That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us” (2 Timothy 1:13-14).
