Quote: Church Unity

~ We Are One in Our Lord! ~

A Lesson from one of Christ’s parables!

The following is an excerpt from a book.

The pearl is an unusual gem with regard to shape. It alone is spherical, has only one surface, representing oneness and unity. Jesus Christ repeatedly prayed for unity within His Church.

The unity of the Church is also seen with regard to our individual backgrounds. “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:26-29, emphasis added).

A pearl is a unique gem because it cannot be divided without destroying it. A diamond can be split forming two or more diamonds. This is also true for other gems—but not pearls. The description of one precious pearl signifies the unity of all believers regardless of their race, gender, background, occupation, or length of time in the Church.
