Living Stones  ~  “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.  Coming to Him as to a Living Stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:1-5). 

Alive in Christ  ~  “There is a nice symmetry in this:  Death initially came by a man, and resurrection from death came by a Man.  Everybody dies in Adam; everybody [all believers] comes alive in Christ.  But we have to wait our turn:  Christ is first, then those with Him at His Coming, the grand consummation when, after crushing the opposition, He hands over His kingdom to God the Father.  He won’t let up until the last enemy is down — and the very last enemy is death!” (1 Corinthians 15:21-26, The Message).

“You who have been demanding proof that Christ speaks through me will get more than you bargained for.  You’ll get the full force of Christ, don’t think you won’t.  He was sheer weakness and humiliation when He was killed on the Cross, but oh, He’s alive now — in the mighty power of God!  We weren’t much to look at, either, when we were humiliated among you, but when we deal with you this next time, we’ll be alive in Christ, strengthened by God” (2 Corinthians 13:3-4, The Message).

“It’s a wonder God didn’t lose His temper and do away with the whole lot of us.  Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, He embraced us.  He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ.  He did all this on His own, with no help from us!  Then He picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah” (Ephesians 2:3-6, The Message).
