~ Reasons Why Jesus Came—Specific
Objectives ~
Consider
four specific objectives which Jesus Christ came to earth to fulfill.
He Came To Fulfill The Law
~ Jesus said, “Don’t suppose for a minute that I have come to demolish the
Scriptures — either God’s Law or the Prophets.
I’m not here to demolish but to
complete. I am going to put it all
together, pull it all together in a vast panorama. God’s
Law is more real and lasting than the stars in the sky and the ground at your
feet. Long after stars burn out and
earth wears out, God’s Law will be alive and working” (Matthew 5:17-18, The Message).
He Came To Redeem Us From The Law
~ “But
when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the
adoption as sons” (Galatians 4:4-5).
He Came To Be The Propitiation For
Our Sins ~ “This is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the
propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10).
He Came To Die On The Cross
~ While on earth Jesus Christ predicted His own death on the
Cross. That prediction includes this
statement, “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour?’ But for this purpose I came to this
hour. Father, glorify Your name” (John 12:27-28).
The
bottom line is He came for our benefit.
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This is the most important
question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it
incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
