Full of It

~ Are You Full?  Of The Right Things? ~

In the book of Acts the lives of Stephen, Dorcas, and Barnabas provide three worthwhile examples of what it takes to be in good spiritual condition.

Full of Faith and Power (Stephen)  ~  And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people” (Acts 6:8).

Full of Good Works and Deeds (Dorcas)  ~  At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did” (Acts 9:36).

Full of the Holy Spirit and Faith (Barnabas)  ~  “Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord” (Acts 11:22-24).

Additional Thought from Acts  ~  Also in the book of Acts we have the record of Saul’s conversion and transformation. “And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, ‘Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit’” (Acts 9:17). The record of Paul’s life confirms that he indeed was filled with the Holy Spirit.

My Desire for Each Reader  ~  That each of you may “know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19). And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). I do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:9b-10).
