Spirit of God Does… 7

~ He Teaches Us to Pray ~

Series Note ~ The Spirit of God is the important third person of the Triune God. His ministry is almost entirely in support of the Christian and their individual spiritual growth.

For this reason, it is important for each Christian to understand the Holy Spirit and the various ways in which He works tirelessly providing constantly available help for each and every Christian.

While the Spirit of God is an equally important part of the God-head He works in the background and has a role of enhancing the glory of Jesus Christ and God the Father.

Scripture ~ “The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. ²⁷ Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27).

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, ²¹ keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

And on some have compassion, making a distinction; ²³ but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh” (Jude 1:20-23).

~ He Washes and Renews Us ~

Scripture ~ “For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷ that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:3-7)

Comment ~ It is important to realize the Spirit does not do a makeover on us but recreates us as a new person in Christ.

Spirit of God Does… 5

~ He Convicts the World of Judgement ~

Series Note ~ The Spirit of God is the important third person of the Triune God. His ministry is almost entirely in support of the Christian and their individual spiritual growth.

For this reason, it is important for each Christian to understand the Holy Spirit and the various ways in which He works tirelessly providing constantly available help for each and every Christian.

While the Spirit of God is an equally important part of the God-head He works in the background and has a role of enhancing the glory of Jesus Christ and God the Father.

Scripture ~ “I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper [Spirit of God] will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. ⁸ And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: ⁹ of sin, because they do not believe in Me; ¹⁰ of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; ¹¹ of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged” (John 16:7-11)

Comment ~ God is the ultimate when it comes to discernment and judgement.

Quote ~ It’s the Holy Spirit’s job to convict, God’s job to judge, and my job to love.” – Billy Graham
