Salvation Formula

 ~ C + 0 = Salvation ~

This rather simple formula which is at the very heart of true salvation.

C = Christ  ~  Jesus Christ is The Messiah, the Light of the world, God’s only begotten Son, and most important to us the only Savior for mankind—He alone can restore a right relationship between any human and God, the Father.

0 = Nothing  ~  On the Cross of Calvary Jesus declared, “It is finished.”  The work of salvation was complete!  There is absolutely nothing you or I can do to add to His atoning work.  In fact, this is one of the major defining differences between true Christianity and all other faiths.  Man has no part in his salvation—Jesus did it all.  This is a great stumbling block to man’s pride because we want to earn our salvation.  To think we can add to His work on our behalf is not only the ultimate display of pride but also a huge insult to the Son of God.

Salvation = Everything  ~  If you have salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ then you have everything you need that is ultimately important.  Salvation includes the past, the present, and the future.  Christians at some point in their past accepted the work of Christ on their behalf 2000+ years ago.  Christians are experiencing present salvation as He is sanctifying you (literally setting you apart for Himself).  Christians will experience salvation in the future when they receive their glorified body and be with Jesus Christ in paradise for eternity future.

Salvation, 20

~ 3F = 1F ~

Salvation is not a Reward for the Righteous.
It is an available Gift for those who understand their Guilt!

How does God forgive sinners?  Consider three Fs:

Frankly  ~  “And Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Simon, I have something to say to you.’  So he said, ‘Teacher, say it.’  ‘There was a certain creditor who had two debtors.  One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.  And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both.  Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?’” (Luke 7:40-42).
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.  In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1:7-12).
“So Jesus got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city.  Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed.  When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, ‘Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you’” (Matthew 9:1-2).

Freely  ~  “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32).
“Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses” (Acts 13:38-39).
“Then Peter came to Him and said, ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?  Up to seven times?’  Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven’” (Matthew 18:21-22).

Fully  ~  “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us.  And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:13-14).
“‘This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,’ then He adds, ‘Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.’  Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin” (Hebrews 10:16-18).
“When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, ‘Woman, where are those accusers of yours?  Has no one condemned you?’  She said, ‘No one, Lord.’  And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more’” (John 8:10-11).
“For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:11-12).

3 Essentials

~ Don’t Be Without These Withouts! ~

Blood (provides forgiveness)  ~  And according to the Law [God’s Law], one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness [of sins]” (Hebrews 9:22, nasu – read all of chapters 9-10 for context).

Faith (trust in God) ~  Without faith it is impossible to please Him [God], for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6 – read all of chapter 11 for context).

Constant Communication (with the Son of God)  ~  Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Summary  ~ Add these three items together and you are free!  (1 + 1 + 1 = Free)
You cannot earn your salvation!  (Jesus + Nothing = Salvation)
