Christ in Romans

~ Jesus Christ Is Our Righteousness, Justifier, Redeemer, Savior ~

The Bible is about Jesus Christ  ~  “Jesus said to them, ‘How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!  Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter His glory?’  And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning Himself” (Luke 24:25-27).

Jesus Christ in the Book of Romans  ~  Jesus Christ represents the grace of God in physical form on earth.  He is seen in Romans as our Justifier, our Redeemer, and our Savior.  We are cloaked with His righteousness.  All of this is strictly by the grace of God.

Notice also that throughout the Book of Romans the Apostle Paul refers to God’s promise to Abraham that He would make him to be the father of a great nation and through that bless the entire world.  Abraham accepted that promise by faith and it was centered on the birth of a baby—out of which would come the nation of Israel.  Compare the genealogy of Jesus Christ.  Paul stated, “I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart.  For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh, who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God.  Amen” (Romans 9:1-5).

Comment  ~  We have only touched the surface of Christ in the book of Romans.  The Apostle Paul told us the Scriptures present many shadows of things to come but the reality is found in Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:17).

Compare the Following Passages  ~  “You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord” (Leviticus 19:18).  “For the commandments, ‘You shall not commit adultery,’  ‘You shall not murder,’  ‘You shall not steal,’  ‘You shall not bear false witness,’  ‘You shall not covet,’ and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law” (Romans 13:9-10).
