Christ—Jehovah, 3of9

~ The Title “Jehovah-Tsidkenu” ~

Jesus said, “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30).

There are quite a number of Jehovah titles.  This series will focus on seven Jehovah titles which embrace the fullness of Jesus Christ for His people.  These titles include the completeness of Jehovah’s name as it is manifested in the life of Jesus Christ for His people.  These titles show how the Messiah completely meets His people’s need from their guilt to their future glory.

Jehovah-Tsidkenu means “the Lord our righteousness,” or “God my righteousness.”

In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.     In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely.  And this is the name by which she will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” (Jeremiah 23:6, 16).  The prophet Jeremiah was referring to both the coming Messiah and the title given to the city of Jerusalem—the seat of the Messiah’s kingdom.

God requires righteousness for relationship.  We are not righteous!  There is no way that you nor I can earn or obtain righteousness on our own.  But the dilemma has been solved through the death at Calvary of Jesus Christ.  God, the Father, now looks at us through the righteousness of the Messiah, His only begotten Son, and accepts us because of the penalty paid by Jesus Christ for our unrighteousness.

the key question: “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This is the most important question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
