~ Decision Making Basics: Supreme Test ~

 

Series Note ~ This series looks at eight words that begin with the letter “S” which can significantly help in Christian decision-making. So far, we have looked at 1) The Scripture Test, 2) The Secrecy Test, 3) The Survey Test, 4) The Spiritual Test, 5) The Stumbling Test, 6) The Serenity Test, 7) The Sanctification Test, and finally 8) The Supreme Test. 

 

Scripture ~ Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).  

 

Key Question ~ Will taking this path bring glory to God?

 

“You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord… Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:8-10, 14).

~ Decision Making Basics: Sanctification Test ~

 

Series Note ~ This series looks at eight words that begin with the letter “S” which can significantly help in Christian decision-making. Scripture ~ “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

 

Key Question ~ Will taking this path make you more (or less) like Jesus Christ?

Scripture ~

 

Serenity TestBe anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).  

 

Key Question ~ If you take this path, will you have “peace with God”?

~ Decision Making Basics: Stumbling Test ~

Scripture ~ Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense. It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak” (Romans 14:20-21).

 

Key Question ~ Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Scripture ~ “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10). 

 

Key Question ~ Am I seeking the approval of man or to please God?

 

“But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: ‘We ought to obey God rather than men’” (Acts 5:29).

~ Decision Making Basics: Survey Test ~


 Series Note ~ This series looks at eight words that begin with the letter “S” which can significantly help in Christian decision-making. So far, we have looked at 1) The Scripture Test, 2) The Secrecy Test, and 3) The Survey Test.

 

Scripture ~ “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine” (1 Timothy 4:12-13).       

 

Comment ~ No one is perfect (sinless) but do you have respect?

 

“Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody” (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 niv).

~ Decision Making Basics: Secrecy Test ~

 

Series Note ~ This series looks at eight words that begin with the letter “S” which can significantly help in Christian decision-making. So far, we have looked at 1) The Scripture Test, and 2) The Secrecy Test.

 

Scripture ~ “The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them” (Proverbs 11:3).    

 

Key Question ~ It has often been said that there can be a world of difference between your reputation and your character. Reputation is what others think you are. Character is what you really are (such as when you are alone and nobody is watching.)

 

“Judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God” (1 Corinthians 4:5).

Scripture ~ “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).    

 

Key Question ~ Does your planned course of action align with Scripture?

 

Is your planned course of action profitable to those affected?
