Grace, 7of10

~ The Amount of God’s Grace ~

Key Scripture  ~  “And I [the Apostle Paul] thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.  And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 1:12-14).

Comment  ~  There is an abundance (far more than we can ever need) of God’s grace for the repentant sinner.  No one can sin so extremely or repetitively that they are beyond God’s grace.  However, once God’s grace is accepted we have the responsibility to grow into the likeness of our Savior.  But be patient, becoming Christ-like takes a lot of time—and we never fully reach that goal while on earth.

“What shall we say then?  Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?  Certainly not!  How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?  Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?  Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:1-4).

Contemplate This  ~  “We are [being] transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as [the grace of] God enters our lives and we become like Him” (2 Corinthians 3:18b, The Message).
