~ An Interesting Comparison ~
Do You
Understand the Provision?
The
following is an excerpt from a book.
Analogies are rarely if ever perfect, but in
examining analogies we look for similarities. The oyster’s side must be opened
slightly to allow a foreign object to enter if a pearl is to be formed.
Provision for the Church, the bride of Christ, was accomplished by Christ on
the Cross. Part of that terrible scene at the Cross was the lancing of our
Savior’s side subsequent to His committing His spirit into the Father’s hands.
In this regard it is interesting to note that
Christ is referred to as the Second Adam (1 Corinthians 15:20-49, see also
Romans 5). In the Prolog we looked at a few of the many parallels and contrasts
between the first and Second (Last) Adams. For instance, consider the formation
of Eve—Adam’s bride—in the Garden of Eden. “The Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while
he was sleeping, He took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with
flesh. Then the Lord God made a
woman from the rib He had taken out of the man” (Genesis 2:21-22). Provision
was made for the Church, Christ’s bride, when the Last Adam’s side was opened.
We read, “one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a
sudden flow of blood and water” (John 19:34).
