5 Bible Houses

~ 5 Inter-Related Dwellings in Scripture ~

House of Bondage  ~  “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.  The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt” (Deuteronomy 7:6-8).  “Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end—then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth’” (Deuteronomy 8:11-17).

House of Salvation  ~  “And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.    Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are.  And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.    And it shall be, when your children say to you, ‘What do you mean by this service?’ that you shall say, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice of the Lord, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our households’” (Exodus 12:7, 13, 26-27).

House of Instruction  ~  “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up’”    You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7, 11:19).

House of Communion  ~  “He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love” (Song of Solomon 2:4).  Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
they will still be praising You” (Psalm 84:4).

House of Reunion  ~  Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.  And where I go you know, and the way you know” (John 14:1-4).  “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (2 Corinthians 5:1).

Summary  ~  Because of The Fall in the Garden of Eden we were all in the house of bondage.  Because of the death of Jesus Christ we may choose to enter the house of salvation.  Having received salvation the normal growth pattern is to enter the house of instruction, which leads to greater enjoyment in the house of communion.  In a future day those who have received The Messiah as their Savior will live forever in the house of reunion.  Praise God for His abundant blessings which He has showered up on mankind.

4 Go Commands

~ Are You Familiar With the “Goes of Christ”? ~

Go And Sell (to the rich one)  ~  “Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, ‘One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.’  But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions” (Mark 10:21-22).

Go And Tell (to the saved one)  ~  “And when Jesus got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him.  However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, ‘Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.’  And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled” (Mark 5:18-20).

Go And Show (to the cleansed one)  ~  “Now it happened as Jesus went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.  Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.  And they lifted up their voices and said, ‘Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!’  So when He saw them, He said to them, ‘Go, show yourselves to the priests.’  And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed” (Luke 17:11-14).

Go And Teach (to the sent one)  ~  “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’  Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20).

3 Essentials

~ Don’t Be Without These Withouts! ~

Blood (provides forgiveness)  ~  And according to the Law [God’s Law], one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness [of sins]” (Hebrews 9:22, nasu – read all of chapters 9-10 for context).

Faith (trust in God) ~  Without faith it is impossible to please Him [God], for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6 – read all of chapter 11 for context).

Constant Communication (with the Son of God)  ~  Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Summary  ~ Add these three items together and you are free!  (1 + 1 + 1 = Free)
You cannot earn your salvation!  (Jesus + Nothing = Salvation)
