~  Regarding Consequences  ~

Introduction  ~  This series is about questions involving Jesus.  Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth.  Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others.  We will look at questions on about 130 topics (some may split into two or more posts).  Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list. 

Scripture  ~  “Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.  Jesus said, ‘Take away the stone.’  Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, ‘Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.’  Jesus said to her, ‘Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?’  Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying.  And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, ‘Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.  And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.’  Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come forth!’  And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Loose him, and let him go’” (John 11:38-44).

Jesus Was—But, 8

~ Consider His Clothing ~

Introduction  ~  Each post in this series looks at an historical event and then follows it up with part of “The Rest of The Story” (as Paul Harvey used to say). 

Jesus Was  ~  “Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic.   Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece.  They said therefore among themselves, ‘Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,’ that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: ‘They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.’  Therefore the soldiers did these things” (John 19:23-24). 

But There Is More To The Story  ~  “Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me.  And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band.  His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength” (Revelation 1:12-16).

Myth, 29

~ Lack Of Numerical Church Growth Means Something Is Wrong ~

The Common View  ~  A big following means you are right.  But an honest look at world or national history clearly shows the majority is often wrong. 

God’s View  ~  Faithfulness is what God desires.  God is the one responsible for results, our task is to fulfill the calling that He has given us.  If the number of followers were the measure of success then the Old Testament prophets were in most cases utter failures.

Throughout the Bible when God gives directions to His spiritual leaders not even once does He mention or suggest that the number of followers they gain is what is important to Him.  God desires that His people—including and especially His leaders—are obedient to the Word of God. 

God’s people are to be a witness for Him and to preach the Gospel while fellowshipping with their fellow believers.
