Question – Jesus, 87

 ~ Regarding Obedience ~

Introduction  ~  This series is about questions involving Jesus.  Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth.  Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others.  We will look at questions on about 130 topics (some may split into two or more posts).  Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list.

Scripture  ~  "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?  Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.  But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell.  And the ruin of that house was great” (Luke 6:46-49).

Who Is This?

~ What Is Your Answer? ~

Scripture  ~  “So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.  They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them.  And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road.  Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: ‘Hosanna to the Son of David!  “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” Hosanna in the highest!’

“And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, ‘Who is this? So the multitudes said, ‘This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee’” (Matthew 21:6-11).

Significance  ~  This is the most important question of all time!  Men and women have given many answers over the following centuries.  Some have said: “He was a great teacher.”  “He was a wise man.” Some have said “He was a fraud.”

The most important thing any individual, including you, can do while on earth is to answer this question correctly and then act upon that answer.

Jesus was not only a prophet, but a priest, and a king.  Most importantly He is the only Savior for mankind.

Jesus said, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up [on the Cross], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.  But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God” (John 3:14-21).

the key question:  “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).  This is the most important question you will ever answer.  If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!

Myth, 92

~ Astronomy Denies The Existence Of God ~

Background  ~  Galileo was, and still today, is considered to be one of the most brilliant minds of his era.  For example, using a telescope in 1610 he was the first to observe both the mountainous nature of the moon’s surface and the enormous number of stars in our Milky Way Galaxy.

Consequences  ~  Galileo and his scientific peers work have eventually led to many scientists coming to agreement that real truth includes both physical and spiritual realities.

Quotes  ~  Dr. Robert John Russell (no relation to this author) has written, “As in bridge building, each community, the religious and the scientific, must find bedrock in its own world, yet each must venture out toward the other, hoping that one day the two will meet at the keystone.”

Werner Heisenberg, who is considered the father of Quantum Physics, remarked: “The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences may make you an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass, God is waiting for you.”

Scripture  ~  “Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth’; and it was so.  Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.  He made the stars also.  God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness.  And God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:14-18).

“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?  For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:3-5).
