God Attribute, 16

 ~ Compassionate ~

This Series  ~  This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God.  Generally, we move in alphabetical order.

Scripture  ~  “This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope.  The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:21-23).

“Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned.  Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!  My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience.  Indeed we count them blessed who endure.  You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord — that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful” (James 5:9-11).

“But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and did not destroy them.  Yes, many a time He turned His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath; for He remembered that they were but flesh, a breath that passes away and does not come again” (Psalm 78:38-39).

‘But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth” (Psalm 86:15).

“Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous” (Psalm 112:4).

“And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick” (Matthew 14:14-15).

Comment  ~  We are Christians, i.e., “Christ Ones.”  On earth we are in the process of becoming Christ-like.  How compassionate are you?

Why Trust God? 12

~ God Provides For His Children (Genesis 5of6) ~

Introduction  ~  “Abundant Life Now” previously provided a list of Biblical of examples of fearing / reverencing God (217 posts).  In this current series we look at Biblical accounts that demonstrate that we can fully trust God.  Initially we posted seven general reasons for trusting God.  We are currently looking at passages from all 66 books of Scripture which demonstrate a reason for trusting our Creator.

Scripture  ~  “And Joseph situated his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.  Then Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all his father's household with bread, according to the number in their families” (Genesis 47:11-12).

“Mr. Russell has shown his best work, in the development of the concept of the Church as a pearl of great price.  Throughout this study there is a development of analogical thought, where the latent imagery of the pearl is made clear for the modern reader.  His content is superior throughout.  He has drawn on a natural science and Biblical thought without violating either.  I have learned a great deal about the concept of a pearl and have appreciated more the concept of the Church as the Pearl of Christ.” ~ Ronald B. Allen, Senior Professor of Bible Exposition, Dallas Theological Seminary

Question – Jesus, 136

 ~ Regarding Supposition, 2 ~

Introduction  ~  This series is about questions involving Jesus.  Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth.  Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others.  We will look at questions on over 160 topics (some may split into two or more posts).  Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list.

Scripture  ~  “There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.  And Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?  I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.  Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?  I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." Luke 13:1-5
