~ Special Verses for Those
of Us Who Have Been on Earth for Awhile ~
My Pastor’s Favorite ~ “They will still
yield fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and very green, to
declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him” (Psalm
92:14-15. NASU). My pastor, Dr. Mike Wilde, loves the
sentiment in this verse—that seniors have a pivotal role in any local church
body.
My Personal Favorite ~
“But those who
wait on the Lord shall renew their
strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be
weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah
40:31). What I appreciate about this
well-known verse is the reverse progression.
Usually we think in terms of learning to roll over, then crawl, walk,
run, and possibly even fly. But here we
hath youth represented like “wings of eagles” followed by mature individuals
“run” without tiring, and finally seniors the ability to keep up the Christian
“walk” without fainting.
Question
~ How about my readers? Do you have any favorite verses for the
honored citizens in your local church?
