Jesus Christ Came To Experience Death For Everyone
~
Passage ~ “For
He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. But one testified in a certain place, saying:
‘What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You take care
of him? You have made him a little lower
than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, and set him over
the works of Your hands. You have put
all things in subjection under his feet.’ For in that He put all in subjection under
him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under
him. But we see Jesus, who was made a
little lower than the angels, for the
suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God,
might taste death for everyone” (Hebrews 2:5-9).
Significance ~ The
end of that verse says it all. Jesus
Christ as God in human form experienced physical death. His perfect sinless life was a substitute death
for all who accept His great salvation. While
we still suffer physical death we have been made spiritually alive unto Christ
and will experience a joyous eternal life with our Savior in the future.
“But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the
firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came
the resurrection of the dead. For as in
Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive” (1 Corinthians
15:20-22).
“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and
sins” (Ephesians 2:1-2).
“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the
uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having
forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of
requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having
nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:13-14).
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the
unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made
alive by the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18).
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?”
(Matthew 16:15). This is the most important
question you will ever answer. If you do
not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake
anyone can make!
