The Manifestation In Glory ~
Introduction ~
Biblical prophecy is a lot like a giant jigsaw puzzle. The creators of each have provided a clear
picture of the end result. As the puzzle
is being put together, the completion is increasingly anticipated. However, the placement, sequence, and timing
of the remaining pieces is not as clear.
This series of posts would be better entitled Remaining Future Events; however, Second Coming (or Second Advent)
is the common terminology which tends to lump a wide range of future events
together.
The
Manifestation of Christ In Glory
~ “For the grace of God that
brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness
and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the
present age, looking for the blessed hope
and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave
Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for
Himself His own special people, zealous for good works” (Titus 2:11-14).
With
All His Saints
~ “When Christ who is our life
appears, then you also will appear with
Him in glory” (Colossians 3:4).
In
Public Glory
~ “Then the sign of the Son of
Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and
they will see the Son of Man coming on
the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30). “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly
waits for the revealing of the sons of God” (Romans 8:19).
To
Overthrow His Foes
~ “We ourselves boast of you
among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions
and tribulations that you endure, which is manifest evidence of the righteous
judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for
which you also suffer; since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with
tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with
us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those
who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ. These shall be punished with
everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His
power, when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be
admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was
believed” (2 Thessalonians 1:4-10). “Now
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, ‘Behold,
the Lord comes with ten thousands of His
saints, to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among
them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and
of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him’” (Jude
14-15).
To
Establish His Kingdom
~ “In that day His feet will
stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain shall move
toward the north and half of it toward the south. Then you shall flee through My mountain
valley, for the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee as you fled from the
earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah.
Thus the Lord my God will come, and
all the saints with You. It shall
come to pass in that day that there will be no light; the lights will
diminish. It shall be one day which is
known to the Lord—neither day nor night.
But at evening time it shall happen that it will be light. And in that day it shall be that living waters
shall flow from Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and half of them
toward the western sea; in both summer and winter it shall occur. And the
Lord shall be King over all the earth.
In that day it shall be—‘The Lord is one,’ and His name one” (Zechariah
14:4-9).
