Are You Harvesting? ~
“Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who
sent Me, and to finish His work. Do
you not say, “There are still four months and then comes the harvest”? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and
look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers
fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice
together. For in this the saying is
true: “One sows and another reaps.” I
sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and
you have entered into their labors’” (John 4:34-38).
“Then Jesus went
about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the
gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the
people. But when He saw the multitudes,
He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered,
like sheep having no shepherd. Then He
said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are
few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest
to send out laborers into His harvest’” (Matthew 9:35-38).
“Another parable He put forth to them, saying: ‘The kingdom
of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept,
his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a
crop, then the tares also appeared. So
the servants of the owner came and said to him, “Sir, did you not sow good seed
in your field? How then does it have
tares?” He said to them, “An enemy has
done this.” The servants said to him, “Do
you want us then to go and gather them up?”
But he said, “No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the
wheat with them. Let both grow
together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the
reapers, ‘First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn
them, but gather the wheat into my barn’”’” (Matthew 13:24-30).
