~ Emotional ~
This Series ~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God. Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Introduction ~ Scripture is clear that God has emotions. First, consider the fact that humans are “made in the image of God” (Genesis 1:27, 9:6).
Consider the following verse: “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you” (Isaiah 49:15).
Consider the examples of emotion immediately below from the life of Jesus Christ while He was on earth.
Scripture ~ He became weary (John 4:6).
He was sad (Matthew 26:38).
He experienced grief (John 11:33).
He cried (John 11:35).
He prayed for strength (Luke 22:39-44).
He was angry (Mark 11).
He sang (Matthew 26:30).
He was tempted (Hebrews 4:15).
He was attacked by the devil (Luke 4:2).
He asked questions (Mark 9:19 and many other times).
He felt betrayed and abandoned (Mark 15:34).
He was filled with the Spirit of God (Luke 4:1).
Yet, He kept going on His mission!
Comment ~ Our role is to become more Christ-like while we wait for His return.
“But we all [Christians], with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image [into the image of Christ] from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
