~ Eternal ~
This Series ~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God. Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Introduction ~ When many people in Christian circles hear the word “eternal” they think of the future. But when we speak of an eternal God, we describe not only His future but also His past. No beginning and no end.
Scripture ~ “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8-9).
“Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God… For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it passes by, or as a watch in the night” (Psalm 90:1-2,4).
“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27a).
God is everlasting. Of Him we may sing with David: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom” (Psalm 45:6).
“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting!” (1 Chronicles 16:36).
“‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty’” (Revelation 1:8).
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end” (Revelation 22:13).
Comment ~ These are just very few of the many Bible verses that tell us that God is an eternal being.
