Water In Scripture, 5of7

~ Water: In Christ’s Death ~

Introduction  ~  Water—whether physical or spiritual—is life-giving and life-sustaining.  In this series we are taking a brief look at water as a consistent theme throughout all of The Holy Bible.

Blood and Water: Essentials for Life  ~  Jesus Christ died for your sins and mine.

“Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him.  But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.  But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.  And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe.  For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, ‘Not one of His bones shall be broken.’  And again another Scripture says, ‘They shall look on Him whom they pierced’” (John 19:32-37).

Remember  ~  Water is not only essential for life, but it cleanses and purifies. The Word of God cleanses the individual Christian and the Church of God. “Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the Word, in order to present her to Himself as a radiant Church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless”(Ephesians 5:25-27).
