~ Apply Your Knowledge ~
The Biblical
account of the life of Gideon provides for one of the most interesting
character studies in all of Scripture.
In this series we will discover practical lessons for living the
Christian life today.
Scripture ~ “Then Gideon went up by
the road of those who dwell in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah; and he attacked the army while the camp felt secure. When Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued them; and he took the two
kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and
routed the whole army. Then Gideon
the son of Joash returned from battle, from the Ascent of Heres” (Judges 8:11-13).
Learn From Gideon
~ God wants His people to take
action—not just study His plans for us.
- Rather than rest from his previous battles Gideon continued to fight: “Then Gideon went up.”
- Gideon used a meaningful strategy: “he attacked the army while the camp felt secure.”
- He was relentless: “he pursued them.”
- God gave His obedient servant success: “routed the whole army.”
Challenge For Us
~ Are you applying your spiritual
knowledge to your daily life?
concluding comment ~ We
learn about Gideon primarily from Judges 6-8, but also Isaiah 9:1-7, and
Hebrews 11:1-3, 32-34.
