~ Jesus Christ Is Invisible ~
Passages
~ “Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over
all creation” (Colossians 1:15-16).
“And of His fullness
we have all received, and grace for grace.
For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through
Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of
the Father, He has declared Him” (John 1:16-18).
“By faith
Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s
daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to
enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater
riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the
wrath of the king; for he endured as
seeing Him who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:24-27).
Significance
~ As a member of the Triune
God—fully divine—Jesus Christ is invisible except during the period of 30+
years where as Immanuel He dwelt among men on earth. “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all
acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I
[Paul] am chief. However, for this
reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all
longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for
everlasting life. Now to the King
eternal, immortal, invisible, to God
who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen” (1 Timothy 1:15-17).
Comment ~ Mankind does not see the wind, but based upon the observation of its effects mankind believes that the wind is real. We read in Scripture, “The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:18-20).
additional remark: For a different look and fuller understanding
of the invisibility of God see chapter 10, entitled “Seeing The Unseen” in the
international award winning book GOD
LIGHT: Sunlight Sonlight (find details by clicking on the God Light tab above).
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?”
(Matthew 16:15). This is the most
important question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it
incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
