~ King ~
Introduction ~ This series of posts looks at some
of the many attributes of God.
Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Scripture ~ “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He
is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of
a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9).
“Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage,
at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, ‘Go into
the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a
colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. And if anyone says anything to
you, you shall say, “The Lord has need of them,” and immediately he will send
them.’ All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the
prophet, saying: ‘Tell the daughter of Zion, “Behold, your King is coming to
you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.”’ So the
disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. hey brought the donkey and the
colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. And a very great
multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the
trees and spread them on the road. Then the multitudes who went before and
those who followed cried out, saying:
‘Hosanna to the Son of David! “Blessed is He who comes in
the name of the Lord!” Hosanna in the highest’!” (Matthew 21:1-9).
“God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name
which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and
that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God
the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).
“Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first
resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be
priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years”
(Revelation 20:6).
“You keep this commandment without
spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest
in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings
and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light,
whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen”
(1 Timothy 6:14-16).
“These will make war with the
Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of
kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful” (Revelation
17:14).
“And He Himself will rule them
with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and
wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING
OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:15-16).
