Fear Not, 45

~ Jairus Knew God’s Peace ~

God does not want His children living in fear.  “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:2-3).

Fear not,” or its equivalent, is recorded many times in Scripture—ALN will post one “fear not” each week during this calendar year.

This Week’s Verse  ~  But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, ‘Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.’  When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl.  Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, ‘Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.’  And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.  But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, ‘Little girl, arise.’  Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately.  And He commanded that she be given something to eat.  And her parents were astonished” (Luke 8:50-56a).

The Foundation Of Peace  ~  “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid” (Psalm 27:1).

The Solution If You Lack Peace  ~  Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble” (Psalm 119:165).  “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You” (Isaiah 26:3).  “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

Summary  ~  “No Christ = No Peace” versus “Know Christ = Know Peace”

Quote: Pierced Side

~ An Interesting Comparison ~

Do You Understand the Provision?

The following is an excerpt from a book.

Analogies are rarely if ever perfect, but in examining analogies we look for similarities. The oyster’s side must be opened slightly to allow a foreign object to enter if a pearl is to be formed. Provision for the Church, the bride of Christ, was accomplished by Christ on the Cross. Part of that terrible scene at the Cross was the lancing of our Savior’s side subsequent to His committing His spirit into the Father’s hands.

In this regard it is interesting to note that Christ is referred to as the Second Adam (1 Corinthians 15:20-49, see also Romans 5). In the Prolog we looked at a few of the many parallels and contrasts between the first and Second (Last) Adams. For instance, consider the formation of Eve—Adam’s bride—in the Garden of Eden. “The Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, He took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man” (Genesis 2:21-22). Provision was made for the Church, Christ’s bride, when the Last Adam’s side was opened. We read, “one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water” (John 19:34).
