~ Jesus Christ Was (and is) One with the Spirit of God ~
General Comment
~ When Jesus saw there was always an appropriate reaction and in each case
we can learn from the event.
Today’s Scripture
~ “Then
Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, ‘I
need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?’ But Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Permit
it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all
righteousness.’ Then he allowed Him. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the
water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon
Him. And suddenly a voice came from
heaven, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased’ (Matthew
3:13-17).
“It came to pass in those
days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the
Jordan. And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like
a dove. Then a voice came from heaven,
‘You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased’” (Mark 1:9-11,
see also Luke 3:21-22 and John 1:29-34).
Application ~ While
we are not God, like Jesus Christ those of us who have trusted Christ as our
Savior have the Spirit of God indwelling us.
“Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on
us, and put His Spirit in our hearts
as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come” (2 Corinthians 1:21-22).
