Omni

~ 3 Omni Statements In 1 Old Testament Verse  ~

The Verse  ~  “For behold, He who forms mountains, and creates the wind, Who declares to man what his thought is, and makes the morning darkness, Who treads the high places of the earth—the Lord God of hosts is His name” (Amos 4:13).

Comment  ~  Notice that Amos possessed a meaningful view of the majesty of God.  Amos understands that God is the Creator (omnipotence—all-powerful).  God, the Creator, understands our thoughts (omniscient—all knowing).  God, the Creator is throughout the earth (omnipresence—present everywhere).  God does all, knows all, and sees all.  There are no secrets, nothing hidden from Almighty God.  “Secret sin on earth is open scandal in heaven.”    – Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer

Recap  ~  “For behold, He who forms mountains, and creates the wind [omnipotent Creator], Who declares to man what his thought is [omniscient God], and makes the morning darkness, Who treads the high places of the earth [omnipresent God]—the Lord God of hosts is His name” (Amos 4:13).

Identity in Christ, 81

~ I Am Saved By God’s Doing (NOT my own effort) ~

Introduction  ~  When Christians understand the various characteristics and aspects of the birthright which came with their second birth, they comprehend their identity in Christ.  Once Christians understand their identity, their destiny is also clear!  This series of “Abundant Life Now” posts will look at one of those facets each week.

This Week’s Verse  ~  “According to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him” (Ephesians 3:11-12).

~~~ EXPLANATORY “IDENTITY IN CHRIST” NOTES ~~~
(1)  Each Monday ALN posts an example of Scripture’s description of aspects/characteristics of Christians—those who have personally trusted in Jesus Christ, The Messiah, as their personal Savior.
(2)  This series is not intended to be an exhaustive list.
(3)  God the Father described Himself to Moses as the great “I AM” (Exodus 3:14).  God the Son also said “I AM” (John 8:58).
(4)  Jesus Christ is the Son of God and several times in the Gospel of John He refers to Himself as “I am.  I am the Bread of Life” (6:35-51), “I am the Light of the World” (8:12, 9:5), “I am the Door” (10:7-9), “I am the Good Shepherd” (10:11-14), “I am the Son of God” (10:36), “I am the Resurrection and the Life” (11:25), “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (14:6), “I am in the Father, and the Father in Me … Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me” (John 14:10-11), and “I am the True Vine” (15:1-5).
(5)  Individual Christians are also sons and daughters of God.  This series will show some of the various “I am” aspects of a Christian.
Jesus Saw, 11
~ Jesus Christ Heals a Hemorrhaging Woman ~
General Comment  ~  When Jesus saw there was always an appropriate reaction and in each case we can learn from the event.
Today’s Scripture  ~  “And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment.  For she said to herself, ‘If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.’  But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, ‘Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.’  And the woman was made well from that hour” (Matthew 9:20-22, see also Mark 5:25-34, and Luke 8:43-47).
Application  ~  Contact with Jesus Christ can make anyone well.  It may not always be physical health, but anyone who places their faith (trust) in Christ will be made spiritually well and become a member of God’s family.  Physical ailments require a physician and spiritual ailments require a divine physician.
“Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples.  And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, ‘Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?’  When Jesus heard that, He said to them, ‘Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.  But go and learn what this means: “I desire mercy and not sacrifice.”  For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance’” (Matthew 9:10-13).
