~ A Key Requirement ~
Do
you know the ultimate purpose of prayer?
The
following is an excerpt from a book.
Prayer’s ultimate purpose is to accomplish the will of God
on earth. “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask
anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us,
whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him”
(1 John 5:14-15). This passage sounds like you will receive the answer to your
prayer as long as you ask according to His will. This is true. Remember,
however, that in addition to God’s general and specific will, there is the
matter of His sovereign will.
Prayer is not a method for changing God’s mind but rather a
way to take hold of God’s willingness to work all things for good on your
behalf (Romans 8:28). This is why you must search the Scriptures to align your
will with God’s. In order to pray in the will of God, you must be filled with
the Word of God!
