EXTRA: 65 Years Ago

~ God’s Ways Are Not Our Ways! ~

On January 8, 1956 Jim Elliot, Pete Fleming, Ed McCulley, Nate Saint, and Roger Youderian were savagely slain by Auca Indians (now known as the Waodani) in the jungles Ecuador.  They willingly died at the hands of people they loved.

BUT this massacre of five young Christian missionaries has boomeranged on Satan! One of the results is that thousands have found Jesus Christ and tens of thousands rededicated their lives to Jesus Christ.

NOW you can read six transcribed messages given by Jim Elliot before departing for his mission field.  His words are as relevant today as when he spoke them.

Question – Jesus, 73

 ~ Regarding Likeness ~

Introduction  ~  This series is about questions involving Jesus.  Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth.  Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others.  We will look at questions on about 130 topics (some may split into two or more posts).  Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list.

Scripture  ~  “And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John.  But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.

“And the Lord said, ‘To what then shall I liken the men of this generation, and what are they like?  They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: “We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we mourned to you, and you did not weep.”

“‘For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, “He has a demon.”  The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, “Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!”  But wisdom is justified by all her children’” (Luke 7:29-35).
