Question – Jesus, 100

 ~ Regarding Quantity ~

Introduction  ~  This series is about questions involving Jesus.  Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth.  Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others.  We will look at questions on about 130 topics (some may split into two or more posts).  Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list.

Scripture  ~  “‘When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?  They said to Him, ‘Twelve.’  Also, when I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of fragments did you take up?  And they said, ‘Seven’” (Mark 8:19-20).

Comments  ~  As is the case of all of Christ’s questions to others He knew the answer but wisely asked questions to get His point across.

God Is My… (Psalms), 67

 ~ God Is My Shepherd, 3  ~

Introduction  ~  Previously from July 16, 2017 through January 6, 2019 ALN posted a series of 60 posts of “Jesus is…,” and now we look exclusively at who “God is…” from the Book of Psalms.  While not a complete list these posts occur are in the same order they are in the Psalms.

Passage  ~  “Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!  Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.  Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

“For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods.  In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the hills are His also.  The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.  For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand” (Psalm 95:1-7).

Other Passages  ~  Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who dwell between the cherubim, shine forth!  Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, stir up Your strength, and come and save us” (Psalm 80:1-2).

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.  He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake” (Psalm 23:1-3).

Myth, 105

~ Man Is Irrelevant In The Big Picture ~

Myth  ~  In this great universe of billions of galaxies man is just a tiny irrelevant part of the big picture.  Mankind evolved from apes which have evolved from a Big Bang or other unverifiable source.

Reality  ~  Man was created in the image of God and man’s purpose is to worship his Creator.

Scripture  ~  God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth’” (Genesis 1:27-28).

“Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man.  And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth and multiply in it” (Genesis 9:6-7).

“You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. Ps 139:13-14

Comment  ~  I do not fully understand what being created in the image of God means.  One thing is clear to me.  God is the creator and He endowed man with a creativity not seen in other forms of life on earth.  Man creates, automobiles, aircraft, massive cities, and amazing electronics.  Other forms of life may create intricate structures, such as the honeycombs of bees, but their technology does not change over centuries.
