~ God Satisfies

~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God. Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Introduction ~ In the
Book of Ecclesiastes we find the wealthiest man on earth – King Solomon –
searching for satisfaction. He tries all the typical things that men do to find
happiness but he is never satisfied. At the end of his brief summary, he
realizes the only true and lasting satisfaction comes from a relationship with
his Creator.
“Let
us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments,
for this is mans all. For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including
every secret thing, whether good or evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).
Scripture ~ Speaking
of God David states: “Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your
youth is renewed like the eagle’s” (Psalm 103:5).
“Oh,
that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful
works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and
fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Psalm 107:8-9).
“You
extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your
light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday. The
Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and
strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring
of water, whose waters do not fail” (Isaiah 58:10-11).
