~ God Is
Sovereign, 1 ~

~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God. Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Introduction ~ When we
say God is sovereign, we are saying that He is in absolute control at all times
and that He rules over all things.
Scripture ~ “Our God is in heaven; He does whatever pleases Him” (Psalm 115:3 NIV).
“The
Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed, He has girded
Himself with strength. Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be
moved. Your throne is established
from of old; You are from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the
floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves. The Lord on
high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the
sea.
Your
testimonies are very sure; Holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever” (Psalm
93:1-5).
“All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He
does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand or say to him: ‘What have you done’?” (Daniel
4:35 NIV).
“The king’s heart is
in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He
wishes” (Proverbs 21:1).
“And He changes
the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives
wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” (Daniel
2:21)
Comment ~ “But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God?
‘Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, “Why did you make me like
this”?’” (Romans 9:20 NIV).
“I don’t know who needs to see this but Isaiah 60:22 says, ‘When
the time is right, I the Lord, will make it happen.’ Sleep in peace tonight, God is in control.”
