Christian Action, 30of39

~ Do Not Be Conceited ~

Series Note  ~  In just the single chapter of Romans 12 the Apostle Paul gave believers a list of 39 things which are part of the Christian life which pleases God.  This chapter is crying out saying, “If you name Jesus Christ as your Savior then please act like a Christian!  It is Paul’s “To Do List” for us.  The key principle is that while you and I cannot change God’s character (who He really is) we have the clear potential to damage His reputation (what others think He is).

Scripture to Meditate On  ~  Do not be wise in your own opinion” (Romans 12:16d).

Comment  ~  Pride is a root of every sin!  We are all created different but equal.  This does not mean that all opinions are equally valid—but it does mean that we should be careful in dismissing or judging others’ opinions.  Even if our opinion is correct in a particular situation we all have plenty of opinions that in time will be revealed incorrect.

Related Passages  ~  “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal” (1 Corinthians 13:1).

Jesus Was…, 3

~ Jesus Christ Was Witnessed by The Spirit of God ~

Passage  ~  “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me” (John 15:26).

Significance  ~  In the Old Testament truth was established with two or more witnesses.  In the case of Jesus Christ there are many witnesses including the other two members of the Godhead!  (The last post in this ALN series “Jesus Was…, 2” (January 20, 2019) was about how God the Father witnessed about His Son Jesus Christ.

Comment  ~  Interesting to note that all three members of the Trinity share all the divine characteristics.  In this passage we find the Spirit of God described as the Spirit of Truth which brings to mind Christ’s words:  “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6b).

the key question:  “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).  This is the most important question you will ever answer.  If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!

Salvation, 20

~ 3F = 1F ~

Salvation is not a Reward for the Righteous.
It is an available Gift for those who understand their Guilt!

How does God forgive sinners?  Consider three Fs:

Frankly  ~  “And Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Simon, I have something to say to you.’  So he said, ‘Teacher, say it.’  ‘There was a certain creditor who had two debtors.  One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.  And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both.  Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?’” (Luke 7:40-42).
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.  In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1:7-12).
“So Jesus got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city.  Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed.  When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, ‘Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you’” (Matthew 9:1-2).

Freely  ~  “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32).
“Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses” (Acts 13:38-39).
“Then Peter came to Him and said, ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?  Up to seven times?’  Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven’” (Matthew 18:21-22).

Fully  ~  “And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us.  And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:13-14).
“‘This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,’ then He adds, ‘Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.’  Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin” (Hebrews 10:16-18).
“When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, ‘Woman, where are those accusers of yours?  Has no one condemned you?’  She said, ‘No one, Lord.’  And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more’” (John 8:10-11).
“For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:11-12).

3Fs equals 1F  ~  Frankly, Freely, and Fully equals Forgiveness
