~ The Obedience Call As A “Christian” ~
Series Note ~ In this set of postings we will look at the calling of God from three aspects. First there is the Universal Call to all mankind for salvation. Second there is the call that all Christians receive—the Obedience Call. Finally, there is a call which all Christians receive, but sadly few accept, the Career Call.
In the first post in this series, we considered the Universal Call. In posts 2-5 we look at the new responsibilities for Christians who have accepted the Obedience Call. In posts 6-12 we examine the new roles of Christians who have accepted the Obedience Call.
Comment ~ As a Christ-ian we are taking on His name and representing Him by calling ourselves Christ ones!
Scripture ~ “If My people who are called by My name [God’s chosen people] will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14-15).
“Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him” (Isaiah 43:7).
“After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up; do that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord,
even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the Lord who does all these things” (Acts 15:16-17).
“Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch” (Acts 11:25-26).
