~ Scriptures Are Read On The Sabbath ~

Introduction  ~  In the Old Testament the Sabbath was established as part of The Law.  The Sabbath is observed from sundown Friday evening through sundown Saturday evening.  In the New Testament the law of God is written on believers’ hearts (Romans 2:12-16) rather than on tablets of stone.  It is the heart’s attitude which now supersedes outward obedience (Romans 10:10).  Following Christ’s resurrection, which occurred on the first day of the week, the Disciples and later the Church have observed their day of rest on Sunday in remembrance of Christ’s resurrection (Acts 20:7).

Passages  ~  “Men and brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to you the word of this salvation has been sent.  For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath, have fulfilled them in condemning Him” (Acts 13:26-27).

“Known to God from eternity are all His works.  Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood.  For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach Him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath” (Acts 15:18-21).

Comment  ~  A primary way of reflecting upon and learning about God is by the reading of His Word and sound preaching based upon His Word.

~ Jesus Is Fully God ~

Introduction ~ The most important fundamentals of Christianity include beliefs about the birth of Jesus, His sinless life, His death, His burial, and His resurrection.

In this series we look at ten facts about Jesus Christ.

Scripture ~ “He [Jesus Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.  All things were created through Him and for Him.  And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.  And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence” (Colossians1:15-18).

“Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father?’ Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves” (John 14:9-11).

~ God Forgives ~

Series Information ~ The Bible is full of promises to those who have trusted in God as their only true source of salvation.  Most of the 100+ posts in this series are exclusively for God’s family.  These postings are far from an exhaustive list!  It is important to realize you are not a member of God’s family unless you have made a specific intentional decision to trust Jesus Christ as your savior.  If you have not done that or are not sure if you have then I suggest you settle it today. Here is a good website which will help you: https://www.focusonthefamily.com/faith/what-must-i-do-to-be-saved/

Series Theme Scripture ~ For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him [Christ].  For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians1:20 amp).

This Post Scripture ~ “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You” (Psalm 86:5).

~ Satan Sows Doubts ~

Series Note:  Matthew 4 is a well-known chapter which gives an account of Satan tempting Jesus Christ in the wilderness.  There has been a lot written and discussed regarding these three temptations (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life).

While the study of Matthew 4 is a rich study regarding our Savior Jesus Christ it also allows us to have insight into some of Satan’s abilities and actions.  This series contains nine examples which make it clear that Satan is a real personality.

Scripture ~ “Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, ‘If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread’” (Matthew 4:3).

“Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, ‘If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down.  For it is written: “He shall give His angels charge over you,” and, “In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone”’” (Matthew 4:5-6).

Comment ~ Remember this has been a key tactic of Satan since the Garden of Eden where we read “Has God really said?” (Genesis3:1).

~ Refuge ~

This Series ~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God.  Generally, we move in alphabetical order.

Introduction ~ The general meaning of refuge in the Bible is a place of safety. It is a place free from worry, anxiety, danger, or harm. At its root includes the concept of protection and safety.

Scripture ~ “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27).

The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble” (Psalm 9:9).

“The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge” (Psalm 46:11).

“In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God (Psalm 62:7).

Note: There are many more references in the Psalms about God as our refuge.

“O Lord, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in the day of affliction” (Jeremiah 16:19a).
