~ Refuge ~

~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God. Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Introduction ~ The general
meaning of refuge in the Bible is a place of safety. It is a place free from
worry, anxiety, danger, or harm. At its root includes the concept of protection
and safety.
Scripture ~ “The
eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy
33:27).
“The
Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble”
(Psalm 9:9).
“The
Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge” (Psalm 46:11).
“In
God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is
in God (Psalm 62:7).
Note:
There are many more references in the Psalms about God as our refuge.
“O
Lord, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in the day of affliction” (Jeremiah
16:19a).
