~ Shekinah
Glory ~
This
Series
~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God. Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Introduction ~ Shekinah
glory, derived from the Hebrew word shakan which at is root means “to
dwell” – it refers to the visible manifestation of God’s presence and
glory, often depicted as radiant light. In essence it signifies God’s
dwelling among His people and is a concept found in both Jewish and Christian
traditions.
Scripture ~ In the New
Testament we find Scripture such as: “The Word [Jesus Christ] became flesh and
made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one
and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
“He Himself [Jesus Christ]
has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’” (Hebrews 13:5).
Comment ~ The Spirit
of God dwells inside each and every believer in Jesus Christ.
The
indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit becomes in each of us “a well of water
springing up to eternal life” (John 4:14) and flowing from our inner beings as
“rivers of living water” (John 7:38, 39). The indwelling presence of the Holy
Spirit strengthens God’s children in spiritual warfare against Satan.
