~ Shekinah Glory ~

 

This Series ~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God.  Generally, we move in alphabetical order.

 

Introduction ~ Shekinah glory, derived from the Hebrew word shakan which at is root means “to dwell” – it refers to the visible manifestation of God’s presence and glory, often depicted as radiant light. In essence it signifies God’s dwelling among His people and is a concept found in both Jewish and Christian traditions. 

 

Scripture ~ In the New Testament we find Scripture such as: “The Word [Jesus Christ] became flesh and made His dwelling among us.  We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

 

“He Himself [Jesus Christ] has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’” (Hebrews 13:5).  

 

Comment ~ The Spirit of God dwells inside each and every believer in Jesus Christ.

 

“I [Jesus Christ] will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever — the Spirit of Truth [the Spirit of God]. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17).

 

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8 NIV).

 

The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit becomes in each of us “a well of water springing up to eternal life” (John 4:14) and flowing from our inner beings as “rivers of living water” (John 7:38, 39). The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit strengthens God’s children in spiritual warfare against Satan.
