Angels, 25of27

~ Descriptions of Holy Angels ~

Angels Are Messengers  ~  First, we should note that the word “angel” has the meaning of messenger in both Hebrew and Greek.  A messenger is an agent working for another.

Angels Are Mighty Ones  ~  Praise the Lord, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His bidding, who obey His word.  Praise the Lord, all His heavenly hosts, You His servants who do His will” (Psalm 103:20-21).

Angels Are Servants  ~  Praise the Lord, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His bidding, who obey His word.  Praise the Lord, all His heavenly hosts, You His servants who do His will” (Psalm 103:20-21).

Angels Are Ministering Spirits  ~  But to which of the angels has He ever said:Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool’?  Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:13-14).

Angels Are God’s Supervisors  ~  This sentence is by the decree of the angelic watchers and the decision is a command of the holy ones, in order that the living may know that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, and bestows it on whom He wishes And sets over it the lowliest of men” (Daniel 4:17, also see Jeremiah 4:14-16).

Angels Are Military Hosts  ~   Praise the Lord, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His bidding, who obey His word.  Praise the Lord, all His heavenly hosts, You His servants who do His will” (Psalm 103:20-21, also see Genesis 2:1).

Angels Are Sons of the Mighty  ~  “For who in the heavens can be compared to the Lord?  Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the Lord?” (Psalm 89:6).

Angels Are Described as Chariots  ~  The chariots of God are myriads, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness” (Psalm 68:17).

Christian Action, 12of39

~ Devote Yourself to Others ~

Series Note  ~  In just the single chapter of Romans 12 the Apostle Paul gave believers a list of 39 things which are part of the Christian life which pleases God.  This chapter is crying out saying, “If you name Jesus Christ as your Savior then please act like a Christian!  It is Paul’s “To Do List” for us.  The key principle is that while you and I cannot change God’s character (who He really is) we have the clear potential to damage His reputation (what others think He is).

Scripture to Meditate On  ~  Be kindly affectionate to one another” (Romans 12:10a).

Comment  ~  To be kindly affectionate to one another one must be proactive.  It takes intentionality, resolve, and persistence.  But, it is a clear commandment to each and every Christian.

Related Passages  ~  Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you [a very tall order], that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35).

Jesus Is…, 45

~ Jesus Christ Is Omnipresent (present everywhere) ~

Passages  ~  “’Am I a God near at hand,’ says the Lord, ‘and not a God afar off?  Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him?’ says the Lord; ‘Do I not fill heaven and earth?’ says the Lord” (Jeremiah 23:23-24).
“Where can I go from Your Spirit?  Or where can I flee from Your presence?  If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.  If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea” (Psalm 139:7-9).

Significance  ~  “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.  Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things” (Acts 17:24-25).

Comment  ~  Jesus is alive today!  Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20).

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’  Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20).

additional remark:  For a different look and fuller understanding of the Omnipresence of God see chapter 7, entitled “Everywhere at Once” in the international award winning book GOD LIGHT: Sunlight Sonlight (find details by clicking on the God Light tab above).

the key question:  “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).  This is the most important question you will ever answer.  If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
