Christian Action, 13of39

~ Demonstrate Christian Love ~

Series Note  ~  In just the single chapter of Romans 12 the Apostle Paul gave believers a list of 39 things which are part of the Christian life which pleases God.  This chapter is crying out saying, “If you name Jesus Christ as your Savior then please act like a Christian!  It is Paul’s “To Do List” for us.  The key principle is that while you and I cannot change God’s character (who He really is) we have the clear potential to damage His reputation (what others think He is).

Scripture to Meditate On  ~  “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love” (Romans 12:10b).

Comment  ~  “God is Love” (1 John 4:8, 16).  Should it be a surprise that God asks those who are CHRISTians to display love!

Related Passages  ~  Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35).  “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble” (James 1:27a).  “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has nee” (Ephesians 4:28).  “Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with all purity.  Honor widows who are really widows” (1 Timothy 5:1-3).  “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal” (1 Corinthians 13:1).

Jesus Is…, 46

~ Jesus Christ Is Omnipotent (all powerful) ~

Passages  ~  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:3).
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.  All things were created through Him and for Him.  And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16-17).
“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.  He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses.  Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.  For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast” (Psalm 33:6-9).
“For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’; likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.  He seals the hand of every man, that all men may know His work” (Job 37:6-7).

Significance  ~  “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth’” (Matthew 28:18).  “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.  Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Comment  ~  “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20).

additional remark:  For a different look and fuller understanding of the omnipotence of God see chapter 8, entitled “The Key To All Energy” in the international award winning book GOD LIGHT: Sunlight Sonlight (find details by clicking on the God Light tab above).

the key question:  “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).  This is the most important question you will ever answer.  If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!

Salvation, 2

~ Salvation Is Past Tense ~

Salvation is not a Reward for the Righteous.
It is an available Gift for those who understand their Guilt!

Important Note  ~  Salvation is not only a past reality but an ongoing experience and a future consummation—as we will see in the next posts.

Salvation (past tense)  ~  “So they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved (not “might be”), you and your household.’  Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.  And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes.  And immediately he and all his family were baptized.  Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household” (Acts 16:31-34).

“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you” (1 Corinthians 15:1-2a)

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” (2 Timothy 1:8-10).

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Summary  ~  The past tense aspect of salvation is in regard to sin’s penalty.  I have been justified in God’s eyes because of the blood of His Son.  I now have a new position or standing.  I currently possess salvation
