Christian Action, 32of39

~ Catch Others Doing Good Things ~

Series Note  ~  In just the single chapter of Romans 12 the Apostle Paul gave believers a list of 39 things which are part of the Christian life which pleases God.  This chapter is crying out saying, “If you name Jesus Christ as your Savior then please act like a Christian!  It is Paul’s “To Do List” for us.  The key principle is that while you and I cannot change God’s character (who He really is) we have the clear potential to damage His reputation (what others think He is).

Scripture to Meditate On  ~  Have regard for good things in the sight of all men” (Romans 12:17b).

Related Passages  ~  Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one” (Colossians 4:6).  When we speak about others we should talk more highly than they deserve (grace).

“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Comment  ~  In my management and consulting careers I often coached others to try to catch people doing things right and then to tell them!  Everyone gets beat down in this life and Scripture tells us to encourage and build up one another.

Jesus Was…, 5

~ Jesus Christ Was Witnessed by The Prophets ~

Passage  ~  “Then Peter opened his mouth and said: ‘In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.  But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.  The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all—that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.  And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree.  Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.  And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.  To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins’” (Acts 10:34-43).

Comment  ~  The Scriptures are full of prophecies (over 300) regarding the coming Messiah which have been documented many times by many sources.  For example, regarding “Abundant Life Now” look at our index in the left column for “Messiah” which to date has 297 posts regarding fulfilled prophecies.

Significance  ~  The odds of all these prophecies being fulfilled in one person’s life are without exaggeration astronomical.  The only rational explanation is the Word of God is divinely inspired and that Jesus Christ is indeed who He said He is.

the key question:  “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).  This is the most important question you will ever answer.  If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!

Salvation, 22

~ God’s A-B-C-D Plan of Salvation ~

Salvation is not a Reward for the Righteous.
It is an available Gift for those who understand their Guilt!

The Plan of Salvation is as simple as A-B-C-D!

Accept  ~  All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way” (Isaiah 53:6a).
Until a person accepts / acknowledges this reality—not universally, but personally—then there can be no eternal salvation!

Believe  ~  Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him” (1 John 5:1).
“But what does it say?  ‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:8-10).

Confess  ~  “But what does it say?  ‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:8-10).
“And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.  Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.  And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.  God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him” (1 John 4:14-16).

Discipleship  ~  “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.  For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.  For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?  Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?  For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works” (Matthew 16:24-27).
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.  For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.  And His commandments are not burdensome.  For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.  Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:2-5).
