Psalm 119, 13of27

~ Read God’s Word To Increase Your Faith ~

119:49 Remember the word to Your servant,
Upon which You have caused me to hope.

Comment  ~  The Christian can tolerate whatever comes his or her way because of the “blessed hope” of the Second Coming of Christ for His people.  In reality blessed hope is a misleading term since its Biblical meaning is that it is an absolute certainty.  God is sovereign, good, and faithful—there is a certain future.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.  But let him ask in faith, with no doubting” (James 1:5-6a).

The Law: Questions, 11of25

~ Was The Law Also For The Gentiles? ~

Scripture  ~  “You came down also on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them just ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments.  You made known to them Your holy Sabbath, and commanded them precepts, statutes and laws, by the hand of Moses Your servant.  You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, and brought them water out of the rock for their thirst, and told them to go in to possess the land which You had sworn to give them” (Nehemiah 9:13-15).

“But I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols.  I am the Lord your God: walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them; hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God’” (Ezekiel 20:18-20).

Comments  ~  Jesus summed up the Law this way:  “Jesus said to him, ‘“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets’” (Matthew 22:37-40).

“So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, ‘Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.  If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately.  Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer.  You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, “Where I am going, you cannot come,” so now I say to you.  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:31-35).

Psalm 119, 12of27

~ Read God’s Word To Gain Wisdom ~

119:24 Your testimonies also are my delight
And my counselors.

119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge,
For I believe Your commandments.

119:97 Oh, how I love Your law!
It is my meditation all the day.
119:98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies;
For they are ever with me.
119:99 I have more understanding than all my teachers,
For Your testimonies are my meditation.
119:100 I understand more than the ancients,
Because I keep Your precepts.

119:130 The entrance of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple.

Comment  ~  Wisdom can be defined as applied knowledge.  The more you know the Bible and are sensitive the leading of the Spirit of God the more wisdom you will possess.
