Psalm 119, 19of27

~ Read God’s Word To Learn And Do God’s Will ~

119:29 Remove from me the way of lying,
And grant me Your law graciously.
119:30 I have chosen the way of truth;
Your judgments I have laid before me.

Comment  ~  The more we infuse the Word of God into our thinking and our lives the more we will understand and do the will of God.

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.  Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:15-17).

The Law: Questions, 14of25

~ Was The Law Ever Abolished? ~

Scripture  ~  “For He Himself [Jesus Christ] is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.  And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near.  For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father” (Ephesians 2:14-18).

Comments  ~  Jesus summed up the Law this way:  “Jesus said to him, ‘“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets’” (Matthew 22:37-40).

“So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, ‘Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him.  If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately.  Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer.  You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, “Where I am going, you cannot come,” so now I say to you.  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:31-35).

Psalm 119, 18of27

~ Read God’s Word To Decrease Our Worldliness ~

119:19 I am a stranger in the earth;
Do not hide Your commandments from me.

119:119 You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross;
Therefore I love Your testimonies.

Comment  ~  The world as we know it will fade away.  Only that which is eternal will last.  Scripture warns us about the dangers of worldliness.

“Do not love the world or the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world.  And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:15-17).
