question:  Who ate a book and found it sweet?

answer:  Ezekiel

“Now when I looked, there was a hand stretched out to me; and behold, a scroll of a book was in it.  Then He spread it before me; and there was writing on the inside and on the outside, and written on it were lamentations and mourning and woe.  Moreover He said to me, ‘Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.’  So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll.  And He said to me, ‘Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.’  So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness” (Ezekiel 2:9-3:3).

God Attribute, 3

~ Jesus Christ Is Our Advocate ~

This Series  ~  This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God.  Generally, we move in alphabetical order.

Introduction  ~  The Biblical term advocate is equivalent to our words, lawyer, attorney, or barrister.

Scripture  ~  “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin.  And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.  And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world” (1 John 2:1-2).

Comment ~  It is important that the Apostle John is addressing children of God.  If you do not know Jesus Christ personally then you do not have the finest attorney, and the only effective attorney, representing you before God, the Father!

His death on the Cross is enough for “the whole world” but his advocacy must be accepted as a free gift in order to be activated for you.

“As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up [on the Cross], that whoever believes [trusts] in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:14-15).
