God Is My… , 10

~ God Is My Everlasting Light ~

Introduction  ~  Previously (July 16, 2017 – January 6, 2019) ALN posted a series of 82 posts of “Jesus is…,” and then we looked exclusively at who “God is…” from the Book of Psalms (February 9, 2020 – December 5, 2021).  We are now considering “God is…” statements from non-Psalms passages.

Passage  ~  “The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; but the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory.  Your sun shall no longer go down, nor shall your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended” (Isaiah 60:19-20).

Myth, 129

 ~ Christians Can’t Get It Done ~

Myth  ~  Christians are not always successful.

Reality  ~  In reality Christians are guaranteed ultimate success.  In the short-term God judges the success of His children by faithfulness and obedience.  Results are up to Him.

God gives all His obedient children all they need to be obedient to the tasks He has given them.  They have no reason to resist what God has directed them to do.

Scripture  ~  I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Quotes  ~  “You relax on a plane, even though you don’t know the pilot.  You relax in a ship, even though you don’t know the captain.  You relax on a bus, even though you don’t know the driver.  Why don’t you relax in life knowing that God is in control?”  ~ unknown source

“The last important point for the strengthening of our faith is that we let God work for us and do not work a deliverance of our own.  When a trial of faith comes, we are naturally inclined to distrust God and to trust in ourselves, in our friends, or in circumstances.  We would rather work a deliverance on our own than simply look to God and wait for His help.  But if we do not patiently wait for God’s help or if we work a deliverance of our own, then at the next trial of our faith we will have the same problem.  We will again be inclined to try and deliver ourselves.  With every fresh trial, our faith will decrease.  On the contrary, if we stand firm in order to see the salvation of God, trusting in Him alone, our faith will be increased. Every time we see the hand of God stretched out on our behalf in the hour of trial, our faith would be increased even more.  God will prove His willingness to help and deliver at the perfect time.”  ~ George Muller

Is Christ God? 6of12

~ Angels Called Jesus Christ God! ~

Scripture  ~  “Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.  Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this will be the sign to you: you will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.’  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’” (Luke 2:8-14).
