God Attribute, 6

 ~ God Is Big ~

This Series  ~  This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God.  Generally, we move in alphabetical order.

Introduction  ~  The triune God is the creator or all (Genesis 1-2).

Jesus Christ has power over nature such as controlling the weather (Matthew 8:26-27), walking on water (Matthew 14:25) and turning water into wine (John 2:1-12).  He also performed many miracles some of which are recorded in the four Gospels.

“He [Jesus Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.  All things were created through Him and for Him.  And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:15-17).

The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is all powerful, all knowing, and is everywhere at once

Scripture  ~  “I am the Lord, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images [made up gods or anything or anyone else]” (Isaiah 42:8).

Comment  ~  Enjoy this story from an unknown source:

A boy asked his Father: “Dad, what is the size of God?”

The father looked up at the sky and saw a plane and asked his son: “What is the size of that plane?”

The boy replied: “It is very small.  I can hardly see it.  Then, the father took him to the airport and as they approached a plane he asked: “Now, my son, how big is this plane?”

The boy replied: “Wow Dad, it’s huge!”

Then the father told him: “God’s size depends on how close or far you are from Him.  The closer you are to Him, the greater and greater He will be in your life!”

Why Trust God? 4

~ God Thinks About You ~

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!  How great is the sum of them!  If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You” (Psalm 139:17-18).

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:10b).

Closing Thought  ~  Can you not trust the details of your life to the Creator and Sustainer of all (including your life)?

Question – Jesus, 125

 ~ Regarding Separation ~

Introduction  ~  This series is about questions involving Jesus.  Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth.  Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others.  We will look at questions on over 160 topics (some may split into two or more posts).  Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list.

Scripture  ~  “Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, ‘This is a hard saying; who can understand it?’

“When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, ‘Does this offend you?  What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before?  It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you who do not believe.’

“For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.  And He said, ‘Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.’

“From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.  Then Jesus said to the twelve, ‘Do you also want to go away?

“But Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life.  Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’

“Jesus answered them, ‘Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?’  He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve” (John 6:60-71).
