God Is My… , 33

~ God Is My Spirit of Truth ~

Introduction  ~  Previously (July 16, 2017 – January 6, 2019) ALN posted a series of 82 posts of “Jesus is…,” and then we looked exclusively at who “God is…” from the Book of Psalms (February 9, 2020 – December 5, 2021).  We are now considering “God is…” statements from non-Psalms passages.

Passage  ~  Jesus said, “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.  He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.  All things that the Father has are Mine.  Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:12-15).

Called by God, 18

~ The Career Call With No Regret ~

Series Note  ~  In the first post in this series, we considered the Universal Call to all mankind.  Then we addressed those who accepted that call.  In posts 2-5 we looked at the new responsibilities to accept the Obedience Call.  In posts 6-12 we examined some new roles of those who accepted that initial call.  In posts 13-17 we considered a sampling of specific career calls.  In posts 18-20 are listed responsibilities of those who are called.

Scripture  ~  “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Romans 11:29 KJV).

The Amplified Bible says it this way, For God's gifts and His call are irrevocable.”

God never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.

Comment  ~  What do you have which was not given to you?  There is no room for pride or feelings of superiority.  What do you lack which is not within the sovereign will of God?  There is no room for feelings of inferiority.

A correct understanding of natural abilities, spiritual gifts, your specific calling, and the grace of God takes away any and all feelings of either inferiority or superiority.  What do you possess which is not a gift from God?

Conscience, 18

 ~ Quiet Conscience ~

Series Note ~ The conscience plays a crucial role in human behavior.  The Scripture has much to say about our conscience.  In these early posts of this series, we are looking at various Biblical Descriptions of our conscience.

Scripture ~ While there are no direct passages in Scripture (that I am aware of) which use the phrase “quiet conscience” the concept is clear from Scripture.  When our conscience does not condemn us we have peace with God.

Related Scripture ~ “Let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6b-7).

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3).

Quote ~ “We have a quiet conscience through the precious blood of Jesus.  We have the love of God set upon us beyond all change.  We have power with God in prayer in all time of need.” –Charles Haddon Spurgeon, The Prince of Preachers
