7 Key Resources of Godly Stewardship ~
The
Commission ~ “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All
authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe
all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the
end of the age.’ Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20).
The
Preparation ~ “Be
diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).
The
Responsibility
~ “So when they had eaten breakfast,
Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than
these?’ He said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord; You
know that I love You.’ He said to him, ‘Feed My lambs.’ He said to him again a second time, ‘Simon,
son of Jonah, do you love Me?’ He said
to Him, ‘Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.’
He said to him, ‘Tend My sheep.’
He said to him the third time, ‘Simon,
son of Jonah, do you love Me?’ Peter was
grieved because He said to him the third time, ‘Do you love Me?’ And he said to Him, ‘Lord, You know all
things; You know that I love You.’ Jesus
said to him, ‘Feed My sheep’” (John
21:15-17).
The
Motivation ~ “For the
love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all,
then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer
for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again” (2 Corinthians
5:14-15).
The
Attitude ~ “Those who sow in tears [somberness] shall reap in joy. He who continually
goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again
with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him” (Psalm 126:5-6).
The
Power ~ “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to
think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers
of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills,
but the Spirit gives life” (2 Corinthians 3:5-6). “ I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians
4:13).
The
Rewards ~ “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You
wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather
where I have not scattered seed. So you
ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would
have received back my own with interest.
So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten
talents. For to everyone who has, more
will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even
what he has will be taken away’” (Matthew 25:26-29).
