~ God Rules ~
This
Series
~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God. Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Introduction ~ God is the
Supreme Ruler, the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords.
Currently, Jesus
Christ is in charge of the universe, and allowing individuals to recognize Him
as Creator and provider of salvation to all who will accept Him.
Scripture (about the
present) ~ “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all
creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are
on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities
or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before
all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body,
the Church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all
things He may have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:13-18).
“He
has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of
the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the
forgiveness of sins. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself
and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the Cross.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above
every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in
heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every
tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father” (Philippians 2:8-11).
“That
you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ's
appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and
only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has
immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see,
to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:14-16).
In
a future date it will be obvious that He is not only the Ruler but that He is ruling.
Scripture (about the
future) ~
“I have sworn by Myself; The Word has gone out of My
mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall
bow, Every tongue shall take an oath” (Isaiah 45:23)
“For
it is written: ‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every
tongue shall confess to God.’ So then each of us shall give account of himself
to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve
this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way’” (Romans
14:11-13).
“These
will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord
of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen,
and faithful” (Revelation 17:14).
“Now
out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations.
And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the
winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe
and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation
19:15-16).
